ANTAGONISTS

Metoprolol / Antagonist

DESCRIPTION

  • It is a β-adrenergic antagonist

INDICATIONS

  • For patients with Atrial Fibrillation accompanied by Rapid Ventricular Response (RVR).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Cocaine Use

DOSAGE

  • 5mg slow IV push
  • If inadequate response after 2 - 5 minutes AND Heart Rate > 150 with stable BP, may repeat 5mg slow IV push
  • If inadequate response after additional 2 - 5 minutes AND Heart Rate > 150 with stable BP, may repeat an additional 5mg slow IV push
  • Max of 3 doses (15mg MAX)
